Visit Florida Removes LGBTQ Page In Petty New Stunt By DeSantis To Exclude LGBTQ Community

St. Petersburg, FL — Visit Florida has removed its “LGBTQ Travel” page from the website. The move came just days before Florida voters sent a clear message to DeSantis that they have grown tired of these types of petty and divisive stunts, rejecting his agenda of extremism and anti-LGBTQ attacks.

Equality Florida’s Executive Director, Nadine Smith, provided the following statement in response:

"This latest move by the DeSantis administration to clandestinely remove the LGBTQ page from Visit Florida’s website is yet another deliberate step in making Florida a hostile environment for LGBTQ people. It sends a clear message to LGBTQ tourists and residents to ‘Get Lost.’

Equality Florida, alongside other civil rights organizations, issued a travel advisory last year, warning that visitors must factor in hostile laws when deciding whether to travel to the state. The removal of these resources, which came just days before Florida voters resoundingly rebuked DeSantis' extremist agenda in the 2024 primary election, underscores the administration’s ongoing efforts to push us out of public life and discourage LGBTQ travelers from visiting our state."
