Sink raises $5 mil for gubernatorial campaign
Word has just come from the Alex Sink 2010 campaign for Governor, that the campaign raised $5 million toward her campaign in 2009.
In a statement by the campaign today, they call the $5 million "historic":
"This is a huge milestone to meet so early on for a campaign. Not only have we exceeded our goals, but with your support, we have exceeded expectations.
With each and every contribution made this year, Floridians are sending a strong message that they want new leadership, accountability and commonsense solutions in Tallahassee. And the $5 million we raised over this last year -- with over $1 million raised in just the last fundraising quarter -- will help us make investments in our campaign that will pay big dividends as election day approaches.
Your support is truly historic. No Democratic campaign for governor of Florida has ever had these kinds of resources this early on in an election cycle. And I promise you we will take advantage of it. Your support will give me the resources to get out and keep talking to voters about the issues that are important to them and the solutions we can forge together."
A November St. Petersburg Times poll also showed Sink ahead of her opponent, Bill McCollum.
