Wexler to resign from Congress

Florida's very own "fire-breathing liberal" is resigning from Congress.

Congressman Robert Wexler, Democrat from Broward, is leaving Congress to be the president of the Center for Middle East Peace. Wexler has long been interested in Middle Eastern issues.
"Those who know me, and those who have followed my career know that one of my overriding passions has been my work on the Foreign Affairs Committee helping to strengthen and preserve the unbreakable bond between the United States and Israel, and working toward a just and comprehensive peace in the Middle East between Israelis and Palestinians and between Israel and the Arab world," he said in a prepared statement.
Immediately, the shuffle to replace him has begun. Names being circulated are State Senators Jeremy Ring and Ted Deutch; West Palm Beach Mayor Lois Frankel and Broward County Mayor Stacy Ritter. State Senator Dave Aronberg has gotten several calls from fellow Democrats to encourage him to drop out of the Attorney General race against state Senator Dan Gelber, but has said that he will stay in the race.
