BECOME FIRST SAME-SEX COUPLES TO GET MARRIED IN FLORIDA!
Get ready for a flood of emotions as you watch the footage from today's Miami-Dade hearing where Judge Zabel lifts the stay on her marriage ruling and marries two plaintiff couples, Cathy Pareto & Karla Arguello and Jeff & Todd Delmay, thus becoming the first same-sex couples to be married in the state of Florida!
During the hearing today, our attorneys stated, “Another day the plaintiffs are denied their right to marry is a day that shames our county.” Judge Zabel heard them loud and clear, and reaffirmed that there is no good reason to deny our families any longer!
Cheers erupted in the courtroom as our plaintiff couples realized their dream was about to come true: Judge Zabel herself performed the marriage ceremony of Cathy Pareto & Karla Arguello and Todd & Jeff Delmay.
When asked if Cathy and Karla had their rings, they replied, “Yes. They’ve been on for fifteen years.”
This is a monumental day in Florida’s history. Loving same-sex couples have been waiting months, years, decades for the right to marry the person they love. We are so excited to be able to share this moment with the brave plaintiff couples who were married today, and with all of you. You’ve had our backs from the beginning, and none of our successes would be possible without you.
This is our moment, Florida. Let’s use this moment and this momentum to create a state that truly embraces Equality and Justice for All.
