Equality Florida Action, Inc. Endorses Kamala Harris For President: “We believe Florida is in play” - Stratton Pollitzer, Deputy Director

A Rainbow Wave Is Building In Florida As Voters Reject Trump-DeSantis Extremism

Miami, FL — Today, Equality Florida Action, Inc. proudly endorses Kamala Harris for President and Tim Walz for Vice President for the 2024 elections. As the frontline in America’s fight against the far-right’s anti-LGBTQ agenda, Floridians understand the high stakes this November.

“We believe Florida is in play. The signs are all there and the polls are tight, just 3%-4%,” said Stratton Pollitzer, Deputy Director of Equality Florida. “Floridians are turning against the failed, extremist policies of DeSantis and Trump. In the August primary, voters delivered DeSantis a string of humiliating defeats for his endorsed candidates, especially in school board races. Millions of Floridians successfully placed abortion access on the November ballot which will drive turnout among new and younger voters eager for change. A rainbow wave of fired up, pro-equality voters for Kamala Harris is building, and it’s set to crash down on Trump in November.”

Voters across Florida and the nation are signaling they have had enough of the weird obsession, culture wars, and anti-LGBTQ attacks being pushed by DeSantis, Trump, and their allies. DeSantis’ failed presidential run exposed the damage his extreme agenda has inflicted on Florida including book bans, the gutting of public education, and relentless attacks on LGBTQ families.

Thousands of parents are attending school board meetings, demanding safe and welcoming classrooms for all students. Equality Florida has built the largest field operation in our history with a team of 20 organizers and a grassroots army of over 4,000 new volunteers ready to turn out voters in every corner of Florida.

In the August primary elections, school board candidates backed by DeSantis and GOP political operative group Moms for Liberty suffered significant losses across the state. Voters, including Democrats, Independents, and Moderate Republicans, are increasingly pushing back against divisive, far-right policies, signaling a broader shift that could impact federal races in Florida this November.

“We’re not just resisting, we’re building a better future,” added Pollitzer. “This November is about stopping Project 2025 and ensuring Donald Trump never returns to the White House. But more importantly, it’s about creating a world that our children deserve. A world filled with equality, respect, and dignity for all.”

Equality Florida Action, Inc. will host a “Rainbow Wave For Harris” Zoom call on Wednesday, September 18th at 6pm ET, to mobilize support for Kamala Harris and show that Florida is ready to win! People can register for the event here.
