For proponents of civil rights and marriage equality, the last year has been remarkably successful, though there have been some recent bumps in the road. A state court in Tennessee, for example, interrupted the winning streak last week, while the U.S. Supreme Court halted Virginia marriages that had been set to begin today.

(August 27, 2014) -- In an interview with Watermark publisher Tom Dyer that was published today, Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs voiced her support for marriage equality.
(August 27, 2014) Earlier today, the state's 2nd District Court of Appeal sent a request to the Florida Supreme Court asking them to take on a Hillsborough County marriage case and rule on the constitutionally of Florida's ban. If the Florida Supreme Court decides to take on the case, it will be a huge step forward in the fight for marriage in Florida.
