Advocates Support Equal Access for All in Homeless Shelters
Orlando, FL - Advocacy groups and organizations affiliated with homeless facilities denounce the Trump Administration’s proposed rollback of homeless shelter rights and protections for the transgender community and stand together in support of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) Equal Access Rule.
Equality Florida: Support Fully-Inclusive Nondiscrimination Protections in Housing, Employment, and Public Accommodations
On January 24, 2019, the Human Rights Campaign, National LGBTQ Task Force, National Center for Lesbian Rights, the ACLU of Florida, the National Center for Transgender Equality, QLatinX, Florida Trans Proud, TransAction Florida, and Equality Florida released the following statement in support of nondiscrimination protections in housing, employment, and public accommodations. The organizations reaffirm their support for fully-inclusive, comprehensive protections based on sexual orientation and gender identity.
Equality Florida Responds To Supreme Court's Actions On Transgender Military Ban
January 22, 2019 — Today the U.S. Supreme Court issued an order allowing the Trump administration’s transgender military ban to go into effect temporarily while challenges to the policy continue in federal courts.

Florida to Amend Birth Certificate Gender Marker Change Requirements
Thanks to a collaborative effort by Equality Florida, Southern Legal Counsel, and the National Center for Transgender Equality, the Florida Department of Health agreed to amend their outdated and inconsistent policy for amending the sex designation on a Florida birth certificate.
