Nathan Bruemmer is the former Executive Director of ALSO Youth in Sarasota, FL – a community center focusing on outreach, education, and advocacy for LGBTQ+ youth. He is a recent graduate of Stetson University College of Law where he was a member of Stetson Law’s Trial Team, Dispute Resolution Board, and Journal of Advocacy and the Law. Nathan is a Florida native, a graduate of the University of South Florida and a former teacher in Hillsborough County.

ST PETERSBURG, FL – Selisse Berry, founder and architect of the nation’s largest LGBTQ business organization Out & Equal, is joining the Board of Directors for Equality Florida. For 23 years, Berry has worked to engage global business leaders on issues of LGBTQ workplace nondiscrimination and now brings that authority to the fight for full equality in the State of Florida.

Selisse is the Founder of Out & Equal Workplace Advocates, the world’s largest non-governmental organization specifically dedicated to creating safe and equitable workplaces for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people. She is currently a consultant bringing years of experience in workplace equality, strategic planning and non-profit management to aid organizations and companies internationally.

Big Win for LGBTQ-Owned Businesses in ​​​​​​​St. Petersburg

St. Petersburg, FL - In a historic vote, the St. Petersburg City Council recognized majority LGBTQ-owned businesses and will include them in the city’s Small Business Enterprise program. The move will help to ensure that majority LGBTQ-owned entities, like other minority-owned businesses, are competitive in procuring city contracts.

TAMPA, Fla. — Today, Equality Florida Action PAC and the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) announced both organizations are backing Jane Castor in the runoff election for mayor of Tampa, Florida. If elected, Castor will make history as the city’s first openly LGBTQ mayor.

Tampa, FL - Jane Castor, Equality Florida’s top spotlight candidate of 2019, is one step closer to making LGBTQ history as Tampa’s first out lesbian mayor. Castor garnered 48% of the vote, coming in first in a crowded field of 7 candidates, and will head to a runoff election on April 23rd where she will face wealthy businessman David Straz.
