TransAction Fellow

Transaction Department:

Equality Florida’s TransAction Department focuses on social justice issues critical to the transgender and nonbinary community, such as incarceration, violence, engagement with law enforcement, quality health care, and homelessness issues. TransAction has conducted hundreds of diversity trainings throughout the state at major corporations, health care systems, law enforcement agencies, faith organizations, schools, and universities. In doing so, creating a broader base of understanding and multi-level support from societal institutions which interface with the transgender community.

Supporting the TransAction Department:

The fellow will work closely with the Director of Transgender Equality to learn best practices in engaging/supporting marginalized communities. Fellows will work remotely. Paid fellowships require a minimum of 12 hours per week commitment. 

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with administrative projects
  • Verify, check and update resources on Transgender Resource Guide
  • Collect stories and build relationships with the community
  • Assist with virtual trainings/speaking engagements (mainly tech)
  • Manage communication with leadership academy participants

Successful Fellows Should:

  • Be organized and detail oriented
  • Thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment
  • Have a reliable smartphone and laptop for use
  • Be organized with proven attention to detail
  • Be comfortable working with the transgender/nonbinary community

Location: Statewide/Remote

Commitment: 12 hours a week per semester

Pay: $15/hour for the semester
