When judges in two counties struck down Florida’s ban on same-sex marriages last month, a St. Petersburg-based advocacy group was poised to get the word out.
The group, Equality Florida, organized celebrations from Tallahassee to Key West, and flooded social media with colorful graphics proclaiming “Love Wins in Florida!”
Equality Florida Institute is hosting a Tele-Town Hall Meeting on Monday, August 4 at 6 PM to address the status of the fight for marriage equality in Florida. Equality Florida Institute is a plaintiff, along with six same-six couples, in one of the lawsuits challenging the constitutionality of Florida’s ban on same-sex marriage.
On Monday, July 28, Florida Family Policy Council President John Stemberger was on WFLA discussing marriage for same-sex couples. Stemberger openly supports the ban on marriage for same-sex couples in Florida and works to keep the ban in place.
(St. Petersburg)- Equality Florida, the state’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender (LGBT) advocacy organization, applauds Democratic gubernatorial candidate Charlie Crist for his announcement today regarding LGBT employees.

Same-sex couples delivered thousands of petitions to Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi’s office today asking her to reverse course on gay marriage. It’s been a week since Bondi appealed a Florida Keys judge’s ruling striking down the state’s same-sex marriage ban.

When Monroe County Circuit Judge Luis Garcia overturned Florida's 2008 constitutional gay-marriage ban and ordered that couples wishing to be married in Key West should be allowed to do so as early as this week, Attorney General Pam Bondi worked quickly to stamp out the ruling.
July 25, 2014 - Moments ago, Miami-Dade County Judge Zabel ruled that Florida's marriage ban is unconstitutional! There is an immediate stay on the ruling, which means no wedding bells in Florida just yet.
