DEC endorses Leon County Commission Proposed LGBT Human Rights Ordinance

Whereas, It is the right of all persons to be free from all forms of discrimination, including discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity or expression, and
Whereas, The LGBT Community in Leon County currently has no legal recourse for discrimination, and

Whereas, It is the intent of the Leon County Commission to provide protection against discrimination based upon sexual orientation and gender identity or expression, and

Whereas, The Leon County Democratic Party supports the Leon County Commission in amending Chapter 9 by adding gender identity or expression to the Housing Code (which already includes sexual orientation), and

Whereas, The Leon County Democratic Party supports the Leon County Commission in extending protection against discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity or expression in the area of employment, and
Whereas, The Leon County Democratic Party supports the work of the Leon County Human Relations Advisory Board that advises the Commission on issues of concern, including those of the LGBT Community, and
