Bondi files more appeals over same-sex marriage

State Attorney General Pam Bondi has filed more appeals in both a federal and state case demanding the right for same-sex couples to marry, reiterating that Florida has every right to define marriage as a union between one man and one woman.

"As the United States Supreme Court has recognized, states have the virtually exclusive authority to define and regulate marriage," Bondi's office wrote in an appeal filed late Monday in the consolidated cases that include a Key West couple's plea for a marriage license.

The attorney for Aaron Huntsman and Lee Jones, the Key West couple seeking a marriage license in Monroe County, blasted the state's new appeals and cited the recent engagement of a famous murderer as another insult to her clients.
