Salvatore Vieira
Salvatore Vieira (he/she/they) is the Operations & Community Engagement Manager at Equality Florida, where he bridges the vital work of internal operations with community-facing programs.Â
Supporting the Chief Operating Officer with day-to-day operational tasks, Salvatore assists with the overall employee experience – from hiring through off boarding – ensuring that team members have what they need to thrive. As the organization’s current tech specialist, they lead Equality Florida’s cybersecurity efforts, protecting the organization and the community it serves. On the community engagement side, Salvatore manages volunteer experience – working with the Community Organizing team to ensure consistent growth and sustainability, while developing and maintaining the organization’s Fellowship program, and Pride Membership program. Their work ensures that community members have meaningful pathways to get involved and make an impact. Salvatore’s journey into operations stems from a deep passion for streamlining and strengthening systems that support movement work.Â
They got their break into political activism as a volunteer turned field organizer for Senator Elizabeth Warren’s campaign for President during the 2020 primary, then went on to work with Organizing Together 2020 before making their move into the nonprofit world with Equality Florida in June of 2020. This transition from field organizing into operations reflects their commitment to building the infrastructure that allows grassroots movements to flourish.Â
Prior to finding their voice as an advocate, Salvatore received a B.F.A. in Musical Theatre from the University of Central Florida and performed in theaters along the east coast! They bring that same creative energy and collaborative spirit to their work today. Salvatore believes wholeheartedly in amplifying and uplifting marginalized voices, and is so proud to be a part of the Equality Florida mission!
