Jaron Sanchez
Jaron Sanchez (he/him) is a recent graduate from the University of Central Florida, majoring Political Science, with minors in Mass Media and Journalism Studies. After his best friend of over a decade came out to him as Trans, he decided to dedicate his time and research toward the betterment and advocacy of the LGBTQ+ community.
During his senior year, he developed and published his Honors Thesis, Florida’s Most Recent Anti-transgender Political Policies and Their Effects on Transgender Adults. This thesis critiqued and analyzed several of the controversial bills passed in May of 2023 by Governor Ron DeSantis, all of which attacked and demeaned transgender folks living in the state, while also giving a historical analysis of anti-LGBTQ+ legislation throughout Florida’s statehood.
Throughout his time with Equality Florida, he has been able to directly advocate and support Florida’s transgender community, whether through personally speaking with Florida Representatives and Senators with fellow Floridians to axe anti-LGBTQ+ legislation during Equality Florida’s Pride at the Capitol event or behind the scenes helping to coordinate and plan the 2025 & 2026 Let Us Live March and the 2025 & 2026 FL Voices for Change event.
