Giovanni Vargas

Safe & Healthy Schools Manager

Giovanny was born in the Bronx, New York, and moved to the Central Florida area at a young age. He is a product of Seminole County Public Schools and continued his education at the University of Central Florida (UCF), earning a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and later earned his master’s degree in Educational Leadership at Florida Gulf Coast University.

During his time as an undergraduate student at UCF, he completed an internship at Nemours Peds Academy, where he supported hospital homebound students—specifically those with traumatic brain injuries and cancer—by helping supplement their education during extended absences from school. Additionally, he also completed a public school internship at an elementary school in Sanford FL, further strengthening his instructional foundation. These experiences have deeply influenced his commitment to meeting the diverse needs of all students and creating an environment where students feel safe and supported.

After graduating from UCF, Giovanny began his first official year as a high school mathematics teacher, instructing students in grades 9 through 12. After working as a high school math teacher, he moved to a Title I middle school, where he taught 6th through 8th grade math in both standard-level and advanced-level courses.

Giovanny later transitioned into an administrative role, taking on a broad scope of responsibilities that contribute to the overall success and operations of a school. His time as a School Administration Manager provided him with the opportunity to serve as the school’s Testing Coordinator, lead efforts as the school’s Middle Years Programme (MYP) Coordinator, manage the school-wide calendar, and oversee key operational areas including custodial services, health services, safety and security of the school, facility maintenance, and facility rentals. In addition to this, his role as a School Administration Manager also led him to coordinating school events, serving as the transportation liaison, working with student discipline, and leading initiatives for the School’s Magnet Program.

Giovanny is excited to apply the knowledge, skills, and experiences he has gained throughout his years in public education to make a meaningful impact as a Safe and Healthy Schools Regional Manager for Equality Florida.
