Anita Carson

Anita Carson is the Director of Organizing for Equality Florida, where she leads statewide efforts to build grassroots power and mobilize communities to defend LGBTQ rights. Since joining the organization in 2022, she has focused on expanding volunteer networks, training activists, coordinating advocacy during Florida’s legislative sessions and leading large-scale election programs for pro-equality candidates across the state.

Before Equality Florida, Anita spent over a decade as a public school educator while serving as a labor organizer within her union. She held leadership roles including Membership Chair and served on the Florida Education Association’s Membership and Internal Organizing Committee, mobilizing educators around workplace and public education advocacy.

Her organizing centers on grassroots leadership development, coalition building, and strengthening the political power of LGBTQ+ communities across Florida.
