Equality Florida’s Safe and Healthy Schools Department has worked with professionals across the state and country to host webinars to enable access to quality content for anyone who is interested. These webinars can be offered to education-based professionals looking to expand their understanding of how to best support students or community members trying to grasp the unique challenges that our school-aged youth face. Thanks to our strong partnerships with organizations we are able to provide these webinars free of cost.
LGBTQ Inclusive Documentation
In this webinar, participants will be guided by Southern Legal to learn about the ability for school districts to be able to create documents and materials that are more LGBTQ inclusive. Best practices and strategies from a variety of Florida school districts will be shared and discussed.
HRC Foundation's Welcoming Schools is the nation's premier professional development program providing training and resources to elementary school educators to embrace all families, create LGBTQ and gender-inclusive schools, prevent bias-based bullying, and support transgender and non-binary students. In this webinar, participants will learn about the opportunities and resources that exist to bring Welcoming Schools to their school or school district.
GSAs, Gay-Straight Alliances or Gender-Sexuality Alliances, are student-led clubs that can have a huge impact on the experience of LGBTQ youth in schools. The Dru Project is an LGBTQ+ advocacy organization on a mission to spread love across the nation and promote gay straight alliances. They are doing this by creating a curriculum for high school GSAs to use, along with scholarships for students. Participants of this webinar will learn about the importance of GSAs and the resources that are available to them.
