Earlier in the week, we reported a conflict of interest with State Senator John Thrasher as chair of the Senate Committee on Ethics and Elections and as the newly elected chair of the Republican Party of Florida.
Happy news to report today- Thrasher has stepped down as the chair of the Ethics and Elections Committee.
According to JacksonvilleNews.com Thrasher submitted a letter to the Senate President on Monday:
"The two-sentence letter does not specify why Thrasher chose to step aside, but the first-term senator had come under fire from Democrats for branding them "the enemy" in remarks to the GOP on Saturday."
A spokesperson for the Senate President has said he will quickly try to find a replacement before the legislative session begins on March 2.
