Here is an important note from our friends at the Jacksonville Committee for Equality:
We suffered a setback at today's Rules Committee meeting. The Committee was unable to cut off debate and take a vote. While the setback was frustrating for us, it stiffened our resolve to press ahead with our fight. We will not rest until Jacksonville has an updated Human Rights Ordinance that includes protections for our LGBT community.
There is another meeting tomorrow and we hope that you will join us in this fight. At 2:00 p.m. tomorrow at City Hall the Council's RCDPHS Committee will pick up discussion of our bill. Jacksonville Committee for Equality volunteers will be there beginning at 1:30 to hand out our red YES on 296! support stickers. Please join us then. We're asking our supporters to wear white as a show of solidarity.

Also make plans to attend the next meeting of the full City Council on Tuesday, June 26 at 5:00 p.m. While our opponents expect us to give up, we have only just begun to organize, lobby, and ultimately win human rights in Jacksonville.
