FORT LAUDERDALE—The Board of Directors of the largest organization of businesses in Broward County, Fla., has approved a resolution in support of marriage equality, adding yet another collective voice on this important economic issue.

“Marriage equality makes great business sense for our state and our community,” said Dan Lindblade, president and CEO of the Greater Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce, with 1,400 member businesses. “Simplification of benefits administration, a competitive edge on hiring top talent, growing an already diverse and strong tourism marketplace, and protecting the strong economic engine related to gay and gay-friendly businesses are just a few reasons why we support this reform.”

The Chamber intends to contact and inform appropriate organizations and individuals regarding its position as government and the courts continue to work on the issue.
